The Golden Globes tend to be hard to predict. The small voting population of the HFPA makes for surprising nominees and winners. This year there were some surprising snubs – most notably Greta Gerwig for Best Director and The Big Sick as Best Comedy/Musical. Instead, we got Ridley Scott for All The Money in the World and The Greatest Showman respectively. The HFPA does not always make the most logical choices (and we disapprove of those two particular choices). But, that makes for a fun, less predictable night. Some surprises could be Margot Robbie (I, Tonya) taking the Best Actress price from Saoirse Ronan (Lady Bird), or Call Me By Your Name actually taking the top prize as Best Drama of the year.
